Upon completion you:
Slack Account#
All of our communication throughout the hackweek will be done using the
GeoSmart Hackweek
Slack workspace.
With your invite to the hackweek, you should also have received a separate
email to join the Slack workspace. Upon accepting the invite, please take a moment to
complete your Slack profile.
Having your name and picture with your Slack account helps us and your peers
to identify you on Slack and builds a more personal community throughout
the week.
Once in the Slack workspace, please add the following channels to your profile:
#2023-hackweek-projects
#2023-hackweek-tech-help
#2023-hackweek-social
To find these channels, navigate to the home button icon in the left-hand menu > ‘+ Add channels’ > ‘Browse channels’ > select the ‘join’ icon on the far right as you hover over the channel name.
GitHub Account#
Everyone attending GeoSmart Hackweek will require obtaining a GitHub account. Visit our GitHub instruction page to learn how!
JupyterHub#
Attention
If this is your first time connecting to the CryoCloud Jupyter Hub, please complete this short application form.
NOTE: the form asks for a NASA Award number. If you are not funded on a NASA award, this is not a problem and you can just type “geosmart”.
This GeoSmart Hackweek computing environment is provided by the CryoCloud project. Visit our Introduction to Jupyter Hub page to learn more about why we are using Jupyter Hub configurations for hackweeks.
Git#
All content of the hackweek will be shared via GitHub and interacting with the
website will be done via the git
command.
Visit Setting up the git
command to learn how to configure that!
Google Earth Engine Sign-Up#
If you want to interactively follow along the tutorial for data exploration and visualization, you need to be registered for Google Earth Engine (GEE) to be able to run the code. The sign-up process might take a few days, so it is best to do this well in advance of the hackweek. Visit Google Earth Engine Sign-Up to learn how to get access!
